- Three I/O ports for current integration and future system expansion.
Directional Awareness
The Platinum360 features front and rear LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) radar receivers that provide maximum directional range and sensitivity. Custom-installed alert LEDs and a hidden speaker let you know the specific police radar band being used and whether the threat is in front of or behind you.
OEM-like Custom Installation
GPS Features
The Platinum360 offers you fully customizable GPS technology features such as:
- Mark to Mute – Mute audible warnings of false, non-police radar locations you regularly travel past with a simple push of the MM button on your remote control.
- Mark to Alert – Mark locations to alert, such as dangerous intersections, speed traps, school zones, and red-light cameras, by pressing the MA button.
- Speed Monitor – Track your speed without taking your eyes off the road and be alerted if you exceed your pre-selected speed.
- Quiet Ride – Mute all alerts under a pre-selected speed. Eliminates alerts when you are driving at or near the posted speed limit (Default setting is 20 mph).
- Auto Filter – Sensitivity automatically adjusts to the optimum setting based on your vehicle’s speed. This “set it and forget it” option means you always have just the right amount of protection. Less sensitivity at lower speeds means fewer false alerts; increased sensitivity at higher speeds means more time to slow down and avoid that ticket.
Advanced Filtering
The Platinum360 is packed with advanced filtering technology, making it the quietest and most dependable radar and laser defense system available today.
- K-Band Filter – Automatically rejects false alerts from radar-based safety features like Collision Avoidance and Lane Departure Warnings from other vehicles (including your own).
- Traffic Sensor Filter – Rejects alerts from traffic flow sensors usually encountered during highway driving.
- Ka-Band Filter – Enables filtration of non-police Ka-Band radar signals, e.g., other radar detectors and satellite broadcast bands.

How much warning time does a K40 radar detector provide?
What’s the difference between sensitivity and selectivity?
Sometimes I pass a parked police car or one traveling in the other direction, but my detector doesn’t alarm. Why is that?
Radar detectors are essentially superheterodyne radio receivers. Like any radio, they’re passive devices that listen for microwave signals. The main difference is that they are specially-tuned to detect microwave frequencies transmitted by police radar and laser guns.
If a police car is not equipped with a radar or laser gun, a radar detector cannot possibly locate it. Also, if no signal is transmitted when you pass the police car, there won’t be any signals for your detector to receive.
Police may also use a sinister technique called “Instant-On” or “RF Hold.” During this type of encounter, an officer will wait until a targeted vehicle is within range to send a quick burst of radar to clock its speed. K40 radar detectors are sensitive enough to detect these brief, weak signals, but you have to pay attention and react quickly.
I drove past a speed box and it displayed my speed. How and why?

What is “POP” Mode?
Do you “jam” radar?
Can a tinted windshield negatively affect the performance of my radar detector?
I’ve heard that you pay speeding tickets… Is that for real?
Laser Defuser
If you’ve ever seen a police officer parked and outside his vehicle looking at traffic with what looks like a small movie camera or binoculars, you’ve probably just been targeted by LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging), also known as laser. Police laser guns are short-range (typically 1000 feet) and pinpoint accurate. If the crosshairs of the laser gun are targeted on your vehicle, and you’re speeding, they’ve got you, pull over, game over. Unlike police radar, there are no advance warnings for police laser guns. Your only defense is a good offense with K40 Laser Defusers™. K40 Electronics introduced the first Laser Defuser in 1994 (which started the laser defense industry). We know a thing or two about combatting police laser, including the latest variable pulse rate (VPR) guns used today. We build confidence and reliability into our products so you can drive without limits, knowing you’re protected.

Additional Option
K40 Laser Defusers integrate with all K40 custom-installed radar systems. You receive alerts for radar and laser threats from the alert (LED(s) and a hidden speaker. You can control all of the Laser Defuser programmability and functions with the onboard buttons or optional remote control.
K40 Laser Defuser Optix can be plugged into your K40 Platinum100 Portable radar and laser detector to receive alerts via the Platinum100 speaker and screen. You can control all of the Laser Defuser programmability and functions with the onboard buttons or optional remote control.
Three User-Selectable Transmit Modes
- Constant Transmit: (Default Setting) For as long as it’s receiving a police laser gun signal, the Laser Defuser Optix transponder will continuously transmit back to the gun. For aggressive drivers in areas where there are no restrictions on the use of laser jammers.
- Pulse Transmit: Upon receiving a police laser gun signal, the Laser Defuser Optix transponder will transmit an “error” signal back to the gun for up to five seconds. The system will then switch to “Receive Only” mode for 30 seconds. Use this setting if you typically drive in an area with restrictions on the use of laser jammers.
- Receive Only: The Laser Defuser will only detect police laser. No jamming signal will be emitted. Use this setting if you only wish to be alerted when a police laser gun is targeting you.
